The two most common types of hydraulic motors are low speed high torque motors and high speed low torque motors.

Low speed high torque motors or LSHT motors are sometimes referred to as orbital motors because of the internal design. LSHT motors are used in applications that require higher torque values at lower RPMs. Some typical applications for LSHT motors are low speed conveyor drives, auger drives and wheel drives.LSHT motors have bi-directional rotation.

High speed low torque motors are typically gear driven motors. Typical applications for HSLT motors are high speed conveyor drives and cooling fan drives on industrial and mobile equipment. HSLT motors also have bi-directional rotation.
